Introducing…

 Greyson Parker Rhyne!

April 23, 2013  at 12:49pm

8lbs. 4oz.  22″ long

Just five days after my due date, I began laboring at home. Rob was encouraging, helpful and super supportive; it was the absolute best we’ve worked as a team yet. The whole experience really deepened my intense trust in and love for him. After a long 36 hour labor and 1 hour & 15 minutes of pushing, we met Bump, our little BOY!

We were instantly in LOVE!  It seemed we waited sooo long to meet this little bump growing inside me, and there he was. Such a surreal feeling, finally seeing him and all his 10,000 cute attributes.   Perfect little profile, he has his Daddy’s nose. Long and lean, right away we recognized he has Mommy’s long toes :)  Greyson surprised us with a full head of beautiful brown hair!  I am sticking to the old wives tale “If you have bad heartburn during your pregnancy, your baby will have a lot of hair“  From second trimester on – and all through labor (!) -  I had terrible heartburn!

I haven’t blogged until now because Rob and I have just been so busy enjoying getting to know our little guy :)

Here is a peek at his first 4 weeks

gpr 4 weeks

You can see a sample of his myriad of expressions here..I’ve lost count and see new ones every day. He’s a charmer and I sometimes jokingly say a “Lady Killer” :)

He’s super fun, easy going, a champion eater AND sleeper! At his first Doctor’s appointment, just four days after birth, he had only been down 1/2 ounce in weight! By the following Wednesday he was up to birth weight and on May 14th he was up to 9lbs. 11oz.!!!

He is an angel in the car so he is super easy to take out to the Farmer’s Market (our Sunday ritual), out to dinner, and on Mommy’s seemingly endless errand runs ;)

He averages 3-4 hours of sleep at night and recently gave Mommy a surprise of a 5 hour stretch!  He amazingly held his head up by himself while I held him right after birth; he just keeps at it and blows us away with his strength. Look at him holding is head up, without shaking, at just 4 weeks!

I could go on and on about how amazing we think he is, but I will end this post with stating how blissful it has been to become a parent and see this tiny creature become his own person right in front of our very eyes. I can’t seem to keep up with how fast he is growing. but we are in fact, loving every millisecond we share with him!

If you are as hooked on our handsome guy as we are, you can see photos of him, almost daily, on my Instagram.  #greysonparkerrhyne

He is about to turn 5 weeks, so stay tuned for the next update!  (and soon, some photos taken of the 3 of us by my wonderful friend, Roon Brown )

…and Baby makes 3!

I found out I was pregnant in the middle of August. Rob and I planned a little sunset picnic at our local beach. We had some of my pesto pasta, a baguette, proscuitto and some nice chilled white wine – nothing too fancy. When Rob asked me for a fork I handed him the postive pregnancy test instead! Looking back it was pretty silly, but memorable to say the least ;)

In October, we shared our big news!

Though exciting, the beginning was s-l-o-w. I endured several weeks of bad morning sickness. It was tough but so worth it! We wanted to be surprised with the baby’s gender, so it has been nicknamed”Bump.” Here are a few snapshots taken along the way, mostly shared on my Instagram.

We went to celebrate one of my best friend’s Weddings just outside Philadelphia. We then went to visit my brother in NY, coincidentally, we were joined by Hurricane Sandy!

Election Day! Bump & I both voted ;)

Momma’s girl Cailin loves her lap time more than anything. She tries throughout the pregnancy to steak her claim on the precious real estate, and slowly gets crowded out as weeks go by…

Letterpressing the Invitations

Maggie and I combined offset printing with the L Letterpress machine to create our wedding invitations. We made this quick video to show you the process.

Registration between the offset printing and the letterpress wasn’t has difficult as you would think it would be.

The Proposal [extended version]

July 10, 2009

It was a warm summer Friday and Rob and I had planned on a date night. We had a leisurely afternoon, reading and laying in the sun on the beach. We got dressed up and headed to a nice Italian restaurant in Encinitas, When In Rome, that we have been to once before.  Rob decided to bring a very special bottle of wine that we had recently picked up on a trip to Paso Robles, CA. I said I thought we were saving it, he said “Nah.. it’s okay. We’ll get another one. We’ll order it if we have to.” I thought nothing of it, except I was pretty certain Rob wanted that wine in particular with our dinner.

We had a fantastic dinner complete with cocktail, appetizer, dinner, the wine we brought, and a desert trio we shared. It was a beautiful night and most of the dinner conversation was about how we were having “the summer of our lifetime.”

Towards the end of the dinner I asked if he wanted to go see a movie or go do something and he said “It’s a nice night, let’s go take photos on the beach, we’ll take long exposures like we did in the desert.”  We were still dressed up when we got home and headed to the beach with my digital camera, tripod and a flashlight to write with.

We set up the tripod and I held the shutter open for long exposures for 20-30 seconds. Rob was drawing letters, writing, with the flashlight during those exposures. I couldn’t really make out the words or what he was writing until an expore revealed “make the wave” Little did I know, he was practicing his spacing and letters for what was to follow.  After 10 exposures or so, I thought I saw the word “marry” in his writing. The rest of it was all jumbled, so I told myself I was being silly and that he wasn’t spelling that at all.

Then, on the next exposure it became clear. In a 30 second exposure Rob spelled out clearly “Will you marry me?” and he knelt down and waited. The exposure processed and I read it again, and said  ‘Awwe. that’s not fair! You are teasing me-it’s not funny”

He was still kneeling down as I was whining about it…he rushed over to me, knelt down again, held the flashlight overhead and opened the blue box with a ring and said “Will you marry me???”

I was shaking and crying,  saying “Yes! Yes!!!”
